So, one “Dear Sir/Madam” letter later, I’ve got my Superior Drummer packed in a neat blue box. Five minutes later I got a winner mentioned on a few of the various forums: Superior Drummer 2,3. You know the procedure: “best vst sampled drum.” Or I wrote “real” instead of “sampled,” I can’t remember precisely.
Some time ago I needed real drums for one of my projects, and I simply googled what should fit me the best.
So, I’m not a SD3 power user and the new EZ Drummer 3 looks like it might just be the compromise that may satisfy my Drummer needs -looking forwards to finding out more info on EZ3, which is a bit limited currently but tempted to take advantage of the pre-order upgrade discount as a retirement present to myself.Our reviewer thinks that Superior Drummer 2.3 has that “I’m happy that I’m drumming” vivid feeling and that Toontrack’s offering has that “something extra” that gives it an edge. I’ve been using SD3 since it came out but to be honest SD3 is a mile long but I only use the first couple of hundred yards of it ( I haven’t even loaded the ambient mic’s set because I don’t have enough hard drive space and don’t see any great need to) and I’ve not bought any SD3 extensions purely because they’ve far too expensive, choosing to use EZD extensions instead if I need more than the SD3 core drums. Now EZ Drummer 3 has just been announced and it looks very interesting apparently incorporating many of the features from SD3 that convinced me to get SD3 but in an ‘EZ’ package!
I’ve had EZ Drummer 2 for quite a number of years and upgraded to Superior Drummer 3 when it came out because it incorporated many of the ‘easy’ features I liked in EZD2 but with Superior Drummer’s added versatility.
